Hips Don’t Lie - Belly Dance Show and Party

What is a Hafla?

"Hafla" pronounced from the Arabic "Khafla" (soft "a" in the word) is a "get-together" ,party,ceremony for a family gathering. It is known in the Belly Dance community as a celebration of dance and all the achievements we had throughout the year. It is an opportunity to showcase your skills and meet local Belly Dancers.

Schedule

Arrive no earlier than 6:30pm as we will need time to set up and decorate.

The show will start at 7:00pm and run till about 9:00pm with a break in between. The running orders of performers will be announced on my instagram @marijabellydance a few weeks before the event.

After that you are more than welcome to stay for our party, there will be music and a lot of dancing. We should be all packed up and finished by 11pm

Performers

Anyone can register to perform. It could be a group/ duo or a solo in any style of dance. This event has been created to showcase anything you have been working on and celebrate the art of Dance. If you are thinking of performing please email me marijabellydance@gmail.com as soon as possible. Please include the name of the act and a small bio. There will be a limited amount of spaces for performers to make sure the event doesn't run over.

How to get there?

There will be a lot of parking available on site, so if you are traveling by car just enter the address in your GPS and it should get you to the right place.

Traveling by bus from Victoria Centre Nottingham (take the n45 or n46 bus to Gedling), get off in Mapperley and walk a short 10 minute walk to the Mapperley Social Club.

Can my friends/family come to watch?

Yes! And we encourage everyone to ask their family and friends to come and enjoy this show. They will need to purchase  tickets as well.

Getting Ready/Changing

There will be toilets in the venue to change and get ready. We will also make sure the tables and venue has enough mirrors for you to check your make up.

Photos/Videos

We will have professionals on the day to film all performances and take photos throughout the day. Feel free to take your own as well and tag @marijabellydance and #hdlhafla2023

Food/Drink

The bar in the venue will be open from 7pm for drinks and limited snacks. These won’t be included in your tickets.

There are a lot of cafes and restaurants located only 10 minute walk from the venue, you are more than welcome to bring your own food.
